Influential account of architectural brutalism in Britain from the 1950s and 1960s.
Near fine black cloth, very slightly bowed boards; no ownership inscriptions, near fine internally, very slight musty smell. In a good jacket with old paper repairs to the verso and tape along the bottom edge of the front of the jacket; small loss at the lower, outer corner of the back panel of the jacket. A new price of ‘5.00 net’ appears on the front turn, no doubt after decimalisation in 1971, suggesting that the book was quite a slow seller around the time of first publication.
Regarded as the definitive contemporary study of British brutalism this large format volume is beautifully illustrated in half tone, black and white photographs of the works of the Smithsons, Le Corbusier, Mies, James Stirling and many others.
