The Flower Beneath the Foot

pp 224 [8] adverts First edition of Firbank's novel with a jacket by C R W Nevinson and a frontispiece portrait of the author by Augustus John with a vignette on the title page of Firbank by Wyndham Lewis. The book is very good in black boards; bump to the top corner of upper board; internally near fine with a little foxing to first few leaves. A good jacket with some loss at the foot of the spine, lightly nicked, with a striking design by Nevinson. Firbank is described as 'an enthusiastic consumer of alcohol and cannabis' who was dead by 40, being buried in Rome. Grant Richards is one of the most interesting publishers of the early twentieth century and this publication is a particularly attractive one.
